Is laser hair removal right for me?
Innovations in laser hair removal mean that the treatment is right for people of all skin colors and many shades of hair color. The treatments are fast and virtually painless, working to target the hair follicle to end new hair growth. If you’ve ever wished that you could stop shaving, waxing, or otherwise worrying about undesired hairs, then laser hair removal might be right for you. Permanent hair reduction can be accomplished in as little as three to eight sessions.
What is the difference between electrolysis and laser hair removal?
The biggest difference between laser hair removal and electrolysis is in the amount of pain you will experience. Electrolysis is an extremely painful procedure that may leave you with burns or blisters that can easily become infected, while laser hair removal is virtually painless and leaves no trace behind. The other major difference is that laser hair removal is much faster than electrolysis. Laser hair removal sessions may only last a few minutes and take, on average, half a dozen sessions to permanently rid you of unsightly hairs. Electrolysis, by contrast, can take months to accomplish a similar result.
How is LaserFast different from other laser treatments?
LaserFast technology was approved by the FDA in 1998 and has proven to be the most innovative technology in hair removal. LaserFast is safe, reliable, and removes hair more quickly than other treatments. The GentleLASE laser is an alexandrite laser that uses a larger spot size for quicker hair removal. This patented laser also offers a cryogenic cooling device to soothe skin as hair is removed.
What areas can be treated with laser hair removal?
LaserFast laser hair removal is well suited to any part of the body. Our female clients most often request treatment for bikini, underarms, legs, and face, while our male clients typically have hair removal performed on their backs, chests, faces, and legs.
How do I prepare for laser hair removal?
It is quite easy to prepare for your laser hair removal sessions. The most important thing to know is that you shouldn’t wax or tweeze the area to be treated for six weeks prior to the treatment because hair must be in the follicle in order for the treatment to be effective. You can and should shave the area, however. Make sure to shave the area to be treated on the day of your hair removal session because this will make it easier for the laser to locate hair follicles.
What will I look like after LaserFast treatment?
For up to 21 days after your LaserFast treatment, you will likely notice hair falling out of the treatment site. Because this is an ongoing process, your sessions will likely be scheduled for every 4 to 6 weeks to allow for this continual hair loss. After your first session, you will notice at least a 20% loss of hair.
Some patients experience some redness at the treatment site. This can be treated with an ice pack and is unlikely to last for more than two hours after the treatment.
What can’t I do after the treatments?
After your LaserFast hair removal treatments, it is important to stay out of the sun for at least two weeks. If you plan on being in the sun, make sure to use sunscreen of at least SPF 30. If you go out in the sun without sunscreen, you may experience skin discoloration. Also avoid abrasive skin treatments because they can cause skin inflammation.
